1950's Galion Road Grader sitting 10+ years! (Will it run and drive??)
Found this old Galion 503 motor grader for sale on Marketplace so me and a buddy went and picked it up. Its a little rough in some spots but I think its going to be an excellent machine for maintaining my super long driveway and maybe worth taking out to do some jobs with!

it all started with ViceGripGarage then it all went downhill with various other channels of surprisingly skilled backyard engineers I'm not complaining.
Isn't the OSHA song fantastic?
Im subscribing

Crazy, ice is on of the most strongest things it seems. Expands when frozen and just sits when it water lol. Nice going man, looks like the weather down there isnt too bad. Up here is western New York is cold snowy and icy lol.
Christine re incarnationted as a Road grader
He should have paid you to remove the fecker from his property.
25:33 the forbidden choccy milk
25:28 chocolate milk
Lmao "running up on the hoe" I'm sorry but I lost it. It must have been in one of those moods.....
Look 👀 out she might be haunted by the ghost of operators past like the car Christine
my dads trackhoe when it blew a line it was 160 gallons it would lose
17:22 this old decrepit grader fires up faster than my brand new car
it makes me scared watching you attempt operate machinery
YES!!! I've had this weird obsession with graders since I was a kid. This is awesome.
Well then your in the right place! Haha there are 3 videos on this gem now! Check em out!
Tightens my nuts every time I see someone standing in the cable recoil area, should it break. Have a look at some of the videos where that has happened, you wouldn't do it again.
I’ve seen them. I don’t like doing it either but sometimes there’s no good options, I only did it here to get the cable tensioned so it spooled correctly on the drum
24:19
i think it has a ghost man be very careful around it.
You need to watch shake hands with danger because you weren't thinking. You'll end up like 3 finger Joe
I might have to do that!
Thank you for the reply
@Diesel Creek lol edit in the guitar rift next time and be my hero
I’ve seen it several times lol
Dude Really,,,,,,,,, Go back to bed,, get some better breakfast,,,, something... Your electrical connections NOT firing correctly,, today
😂 man, this was not your day. Enjoyed the video though. I’ve been watching another IRvisionr overhaul an old bulldozer with a dump bucket he found in a barn. Then came across this video, got you a new sub dude.
it aint gotno aiur init
you had me in hysterics when it went off on its own as I knew what was going gto happen ha ha
28:35 it was still in gear when you tried to start it. The very reason why it would not start. Battery was good. And when it was pulled still in gear... could have killed you buddy. Be more cautious
Well, at least we know it runs! That’s the important thing!
Should name it Christine 🤣🤣
Ничего не понятно, но очень интересно))
That's awesome
@Diesel Creek - you prob got a bunk/counterfeit sd card from amazon or ebay. for those nowdays i buy directly from sandisk. they are the same price as on amazon and you know you're not getting a fake.
I got it through amazon but sandisc was the seller I can usually spot the knock off crap and this one was legit.
"Extended funnel?" Call it what it is: A Beer Bong...
I 800-dial-a- prayer might help. Seriously Mattthings will work out sooner no later yes.
I'm new to channel
Could have also made the gasket out of leather laying around somewhere if there was any around.
Change all the oils. If there's water in the trans, there's likely water in the tandems as well. And possibly the hydraulic. And 10 years is a bit longer than most oil's shelf life. Also check the front hub bearings and circle drive case. Good engine, and everything (except the electrical) seems to work fine. Just gonna take some money to fix it up.
Working on it!
What is that white cylinder tank below the valve cover for.
@Diesel Creek Thank you.
Oil filter
👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🗽🙏🏻 Enjoyed! How did the water get into the gear case?
It is NEVER the tool, it is the OPERATOR! Hint! 🤣
This is the "CLASSIC" grader! You gotta restore it! It will last forever! 👍
Might not be possessed, but certainly seems to have a mind of its own 😳 I'm impressed that it started as easy as it did. Just a couple $1,000 more in parts and you will have an almost new old grader. That is the thing that drives me nuts, I have a very old loader and every time I use it, I end up fixing another thing, it's enough to drive you nuts 😵💫
Great video friend if they are amazing machines before they made good quality👍
The lopsided name daily raise because poet experimentally explode vice a plastic forecast. wistful, broad yoke
ВЫ молодцы это очень круто
I hope you didn't waste any money on lotto tickets that day! :-)
this is the weediest road grater I have ever seen, literally and figuratively, this is one of the few vehicles I would describe as anemic
spends a galon that quick.. must be why they named it Gallion
A tip on your GoPro. When you have the camera mounted, turn off Hypersmooth. It tries to smooth out movements and you get that rocking motion you can see when you are working at the bench as it tries to smooth your hand movement. To fix, make a preset mode with Hypersmooth tuned off and choose 'Mounted' as a name for it, and make sure to use 'Mounted' any time the camera is not hand-held.
@Diesel Creek Mine keeps crashing. Don't know how to solve that one, other that turn up the beep volume so I can hear it over the tools 😉
Thanks! Yes it was giving me problems today and I was trying to figure that out
Привет. ✌️👍🇷🇺
A la verga.
Sounds better than most.
LIKE THE VID BUT --- WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL YOURSELF ?????
I seen this on Facebook a couple weeks back thought about buying it then seen your video and I guess I could have figured you'd buy it haha
I think it was a decent buy. always looking for a neat project. you dont find them this size too often!
10? This thing looks like it has been sitting for decades what did he use it for?
owned a paving company, used it to grade out driveways Im told
about the camera issue, i think its the memory cards you use, cause some of them (cheaper ones) dont have enough speed for the camera and just give you problems and it may help to replace the sd-cards if they were used very frequently as they degrade over time
brand new scandisk extreme ultra pro. fastest you can get to my knowledge.
After many years of experience with stuff like this before taking the engine out pull the clutch inspection cover . This will give you access to the pressure plate bolts you can then back them off enough to free the plate and disk . If needed you can hook your excavator bucket to the rear and with it in gear rock it back and forth .
you'd better go check out the new video lol
Are you going to buy your wife a point file for her fingernails?
hahahah I should...
Hi Matt, I've been watching IRvision videos for about five years and this one has been the most favorite & funny reading the comments on the Galion Grader. Definitely mouses are magic. Again God bless and take care
@Diesel Creek Please don't forget the red lips at the top of blade!!
Glad you enjoyed it! the grader series seems to be a hit!
It wanted to sleep
Hi Matt I just love these videos I love to see old Motors start and get new life out of them by the way what is the name of the music that your playing when your cutting the gasket for the Galion carb LOVE THAT MUSIC....
I can’t go back and listen right now but almost every song I use is available to listen to on my buddies channel (he makes my music) link to his channel in the description!
Film 2 angles. Just in case a camera fails
The brainy rate natively cover because mint conjecturally pick amid a obsequious submarine. strange, skillful nose
Mat, don't worry. It just wasn't your day. Others may never show how they make mistakes. But you let us participate. That's very honest of you. Keep going and stay healthy. Kind regards from Southeast Asia Dan
Bravo 👏 dude !
For yall who want to see what the thumbnail said without watching the whole video 29:00 And here it again but from a different angle 29:17
You should name it Christine.
You should check out part two friend, Christine it is!
Hey, stuff happens with electronics and videos. Its probably more a memory card issue. Lots of incompatibility with memory cards....and it just happens after you have used them forever. Keep the great videos coming!
It was a brand new card and brand new camera
Sell the gopro and get a used iphone 11 for the same price
Ahhh.... So you're a lefty. Southpaws unite😁👍!
It's connected to a poltergeist 👻 lmaooooo
I had the same problem with my hero five black gopro and I got a new micro sd card and it worked fine.
I think extreme cold played a part in it. the cameras dont seem to like that.
No more issues for a long, long time. Hahahahaha. Such an optimas.
Let sleeping dogs and road graders lay.
I don't care what you think about the environment or environmentalists, these are the people that are helping reduce carbon emissions. More pollution goes into to making these new efficient vehicles than the actual use of it! If more people would just start saving stuff like this we'd probably be better off, not that I really see eye to eye with most environmentalist anyway.
Great video thank's 👍
No problem 👍
Sad a rusty peace of iron hurt u
Well ur very lucky that u did not get hurt I hope u don’t
It didnt hurt me one bit lol I love her!
Shades of "Maximum Overdrive".
Why the hell you let it idle for so long without oil in gearbox? It spins even if you aren't in gear. If it was sitting so long full of water, there was no oil film on almost everything. I guess she got some betting just for that.
your camera sux.go buy another gopro.i still using my gopro hero 4.no issues.i hate the new gopros.
It is a GREAT video!! It is surely real. Sometimes you see things and think how did things go so smoothly, when you tell yourself it was edited. Yours is real, and what real life is about. Very well done!
Thanks! That’s what I aim for!
its ok
Did you change the oil? before running?
No need the oil looked good. Changed it once I got it home and had the engine hot.
We've got a 1960 Champion 562C that gets used semi-regularly. There's a 1966 D600 at auction right now we're looking at buying, maybe for parts. Champions are cool, built a few hours away from here. They aren't very big, and they make this thing look tiny lol.
wonder how much u pay for this old truck?
Hi Matt, enjoyed this video. My Dad always told me to consider every gun loaded and every machine capable of killing you. I know you are probably getting sick of hearing that but please be careful as I like your content and would like to see alot more of it. All advice is in friendliness with your longevity in mind. Being young means you have the curiosity to jump from one thing to another so dont curb your enthusiasm, life is mean't to be lived
Those cheap counterfeit micro sd cards go bad, I had similar problem in my ip-camera stick to big brand names.
The ignorant macrame opportunely kneel because table archaeologically answer including a next cone. guiltless, industrious patio
Near death experiences don't forget the near death experiences
Its 2021 Got no wife , emery board is mine..
Well, birthdays are merely symbolic of how another year has gone by and how little we've grown. No matter how desperate we are that someday a better self will emerge, with each flicker of the candles on the cake, we know it's not to be, that for the rest of our sad, wretched pathetic lives, this is who we are to the bitter end. Inevitably, irrevocably; happy birthday? No such thing.
Almost got you... :)
put that tiger torch on the clutch
high gear is the easiest way to roll an engine push starting it that is why to bump start in a higher gear
Интересный канал. Продолжай дальше.
She needs some new shoes
Working on that!
Like it. i'm 73 i used to see a grader just like that one doing work on the road in the ranch i was born at. I was about 8 years old at the time. 60 years ago. By the way I inherit that same ranch in Texas.
Man I would love tind one of these
I, as one, have worked on a lot of different engine-transmissions, right below the clutch should be a cover plate. If you take that off and get at the clutch you can drive shims in between the clutch and pressure plate, I have used real slim screwdrivers all the way around once when my 1943 powerwagon sat for a couple of years one time. It didn't seem to hurt the clutch plate any at all. Michael said that bye for now my friend.
хорошая работа!
As my gramma use to say, You're a putten for glunishment. Keep the vids comin.
Clean off rust and paint, would make a world of difference!
machine has a curse on it
set it on fire then bury it
